Benjamin Adler, a native of Brooklyn, New York, joined The New York Philharmonic as Associate Principal and E-flat Clarinet at the start of the 2023-24 season. Adler previously held positions with the Milwaukee Symphony Orchestra and the St. Louis Symphony Orchestra. He has appeared as guest principal clarinet with the St. Louis and Baltimore Symphonies and has performed as a guest musician with The Cleveland Orchestra, Los Angeles Philharmonic, and the Orchestre Symphonique de Montréal.
An avid educator, Adler has been on faculty at the Brevard Music Center and the Wisconsin Lutheran College. Additionally, he has held master classes across the United States and abroad. He is the founder and artistic director of the Clarinet Maestro Festival, a series of master classes and private lessons that emphasize accessible education for all clarinetists.
Adler holds a Bachelor’s degree from Northwestern University, where he was a student of Steve Cohen. He has received his Masters degree from the University of Southern California and Artist Diploma from the Colburn School, respectively, where he studied with Yehuda Gilad. In his free time, Adler enjoys golfing and hanging out with his cat and family.
