Mr. López is the acting Assistant Principal/ Eb clarinet of the Baltimore Symphony under the baton of Marin Alsop. López is the former principal clarinet of Bogotá Symphony Orchestra. He has performed regularly as a soloist in Colombia and has been invited to play with the Simon Bolivar Orchestra, with Gustavo Dudamel, He has also performed with the Milwaukee Symphony, Fort Worth Symphony Orchestra, Modesto Symphony, Las Vegas Symphony, Downey Symphony, Eastern Sierra Symphony, American Youth Symphony, Youth Colombian Philharmonic,
He has also performed various orchestral, soloist and chamber concerts at venues across Colombia, Peru, Costa Rica, Brasil, and United States.
Mr López is a multiple award winner : The Mitchell Lurie Award 2017. Bruce Zalkind Memorial Endowed Music Award in 2014, 2015 and 2016. Youth Talent Award by Salvi Foundation 2013. He is first prize winner of Latinoamerian Clarinet Competition Clariperu 2011, XIII “Concurso Nacional de Interpretación” Superior Category 2011, National Clarinet Competition, superior Category 2011. Additionally, third and second prize winner of the National Clarinet competition EAFIT, 2009 and Concurso Distrital de Clarinete, 2008. Mr. López received the “Medal of Merit Antonio Nariño” of Excellence Award by the Colombia Senate in 2009.
He is a former teacher at the Colburn School of Music and LA Philharmonic program YOLA. Also, a Young Musician Foundation and Batuta Foundation former clarinet teacher, further more, while being a member of the Clarinet Quartet – “Cadenza”, he helped communities in Colombia and Los Angeles CA, giving lesson and master classes.
López has received a Master of Music in Clarinet performance degree at the University of Southern California in Los Angeles, CA under the tutelage of Yehuda Gilad. He received his Bachelor of Music degree from the National University of Colombia where he studied with Robert d’ Gennaro.
